“Well, I have trouble concentrating too sometimes. Everybody does. Some people can manage it, though, and some can’t.” —My insurance agent while discussing my ADHD. Made me feel angry, invalidated, tired; as if ADHD were something I could just “manage” and get over. (via microaggressions)

Consensus: leadership and buy in

I’ve another class with Aimee so I am starting to share my writings again. Love to hear your thoughts!

Effective Leadership, in my opinion, utilizes a lead from behind model. What I mean by that is a good leadership model is one in which the constiuency doesn’t even notice that they are being lead. The decision making should be made by the constiuency and a good facilitator (leader) will help bring out the different stakeholders view points. A good facilitator should also help the constiuence to see the similiarities in their opinions in order to bring the group to a mutually benefical consensus.

Buy in is important because people need to feel included in the process in order to be flexible in the decision making porcess. If they don’t have buy-in then they won’t be invested in the process and will either leave the process or will only push their personal agenda in an inflexible way.
